That’s right! Today we celebrate the last concert of Elvis the King, the retirement of Mohamed Ali Boxer, the signing of the Charter of the UN, the first race in Le Mans, the patenting of the bicycle, the English colonization of Hong Kong, the Crusader conquest of Tripoli in 1109 and also, less noticeably, the Slovenistani declaration of independence in the year of our lord the Crucified One nineteen hundred and ninety-one. That’s 17 years ago, when I was wee and smallish.
