Tropical Storm Kirk expected to become a Hurricane Tuesday night


TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tropical Storm Kirk is expected to become a hurricane Tuesday, and a major hurricane on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said.

Located about 935 miles west of Cabo Verde Islands, Kirk is moving west-northwest nearing 14 mph.

Maximum sustained winds are 60 mph.

General motion toward the west-northwest is expected to continue through Tuesday. A turn toward the northwest is forecasted on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the NHC.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time.
