After the heartbreaking news that Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were tragically killed by a drunk driver on August 29, 2024, the Gaudreau family will be in attendance at the Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Calgary Flames game on Dec. 3 to honour them.
The entire hockey community came together to honour the brothers who we lost way too early. However, it was the Blue Jackets and Flames communities that were hit hardest with the terrible news.
As the Gaudreau family is working to adjust, they received some great news from the Flames organization.
The Gaudreau’s have been invited to attend the Flames vs. Blue Jackets game on Dec. 3, in Calgary as the team is set to honour the brothers.
Jane Gaudreau, the mother of Johnny and Matthew, had this to say about the invite from the Flames.
“We are deeply grateful to the Flames organization for inviting us back. The love and support so many have shown for John, Matty, and our entire family have helped us through the hardest time of our lives.”
What an awesome gesture by the Flames organization, and what a special moment it will be for the Gaudreau family and the fans of both teams.
The Blue Jackets are set to host the Flames tomorrow (Nov. 29) at 3:00 p.m. for Black Friday. The Blue Jackets will have their chance to honour Johnny and Matthew again on their home ice.
